A £2.3m project to turn Highfields Sports club in Nottingham into a hockey facility has just been completed. The club now boasts a new floodlit pitch with an international standard water based surface, a second sand-filled pitch and a special training area. The club's pavilion has also been refurbished and extended, with facilities including changing rooms and a treatment room as well as a restaurant, bar and function room. 'These superior facilities rival the very best in the UK and Europe, and spell great news for the game of hockey both locally and nationally,' said club chairman, Rob Morris. The project, designed by architects Maber Associates and constructed by Carter Construction, enables the club to join a national network of facilities serving the Institute of Sport and the World Class Performance Programme.
